Kim Weiherman

I received my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Special Education from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1980 and moved to Eugene in August 1980 to begin my first year as a special education teacher. From 1981-83 I attended graduate school at the University of Oregon while teaching part-time. I earned a Master’s of Science degree in Special Education from the University of Oregon in 1984 and was hired at North Eugene High School where I worked with learning disabled students. It was here where I found a passion for teaching mathematics and returned to the University of Oregon to earn a second Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. I became a member of the North Eugene High School (NEHS) Math Department in September 1990. I completed a second Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Oregon in Mathematics in August 1993. I continued teaching at NEHS until June 2007, when I transferred to South Eugene High School (SEHS). I taught mathematics at SEHS until I retired in June, 2016.
My husband and I have three sons and one dog. I enjoy running, swimming, walking the dog, biking, traveling, camping, and reading. I love being outdoors! I have traveled to every one of the 50 states and Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, as well as Europe, Peru, and Jamaica. This winter I plan to travel to Israel. I am enjoying substitute teaching in the Eugene school district and tutoring at Math is Magic! It is a perfect way to transition into retirement.
